Pope Baseball Wins to Reach 3rd Round

defeated Northgate, 4-1, in the final game of their best-of-three series to advance to the quarterfinals of the Georgia High School Association AAAA baseball tournament.

Senior Ben Levine pitched a complete game to lead Pope, The Marietta Daily Journal reported.

The Greyhounds will play a doubleheader at Loganville on Tuesday, with a third game Wednesday if necessary. is the No. 1 seed from Region 8-AAAA and swept Evans on Wednesday, 7-3 and 7-6.

Either Harris County or awaits in the semifinals if Pope (24-7) advances.

• Lassiter hosts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the quarterfinals of the AAAAA girls soccer tournament.
• Lassiter hosts East Coweta at 7 tonight in the quarterfinals of the AAAAA boys lacrosse tournament.
• Pope plays at at noon Saturday in the quarterfinals of the A-AAAA boys lacrosse tournament.
• Kell travels to Peachtree City to play McIntosh at 7 tonight in the quarterfinals of the A-AAAA girls lacrosse tournament.
• The boys track and field championships continue today and Saturday in Jefferson with lots of running. in the AAAA meet after Day 1.
