Sprayberry Sports Highlights

What's happening in sports at Sprayberry High School in Northeast Cobb.

Sprayberry High School's football team is showing the strength it hopes will motivate success in a tough region this year. While losing the first two games of the season to state-ranked Hillgrove and AAAAA power Lassiter, the team has since won games with Kennesaw Mountain and North Paulding to even its record at 2-2. The team has an open week this Friday and then hits the heart of its region schedule with games against East Paulding, Hiram (at home), and the Homecoming game against Osborne in late October.

The Volleyball program continues its strong reputation this year as a state-ranked team with strong showings. The team won the Gold Medal match at the Georgia Gold Tournament. It is currently 20-5 overall, maintainng a top-five ranking in AAAA volleyball. Upcoming are the Cobb County Tournament Sept. 23-24 and the Area Tournament for post-season qualification Oct. 6-8.

The Fast-Pitch Softball program, under the new direction of Coach Donny Robertson, is currently 4-7. With only two seniors on this year’s varsity team, the squad is building experience into this season’s play for the talented under-class players. Important qualifying tournaments await in the next three weeks that will determine how far the team can advance.
