Finalists will attend the Governor’s Honors Program on the campus of Valdosta State University, in Valdosta, Georgia.

Over 2,900 students statewide interviewed and auditioned for the program, and 690 finalists will participate in the 2012 program. This year’s program will be the 49th summer, making the Georgia Governor's Honors Program the longest continually running program of its kind in the nation.

The Georgia Governor's Honors Program is a six-week summer residential instructional program designed to provide intellectually gifted and artistically talented high school students challenging and enriching educational opportunities not usually available during the regular school year. The Georgia General Assembly fully funds the Georgia Governor's Honors Program, so there is no cost to the participant.

Each year, teachers nominate rising juniors and seniors attending Georgia's public, private and home schools in a specific instructional area for participation in the Georgia Governor's Honors Program. A score on the PSAT or SAT is required for selection and participation in the program. Transcripts of grades and records, endorsements and other pertinent information substantiate the nominations.
