Updates on Northeast Cobb Parks Projects

Improvements using 2011 Cobb SPLOST funds will be underway soon at Noonday, Sandy Plans and Shaw parks.

The Cobb County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department announced this week the following updates on Northeast Cobb-area projects funded with money approved by voters in the 2011 Cobb SPLOST referendum:

  • Construction for the field renovations at Noonday Park is scheduled to begin in December. The park will be closed for construction until late July of 2013.
  • The proposals for design of improvements at Sandy Plains Park were evaluated and jB+a, Inc. was selected to provide design services. The Cobb Board of Commissioners approved the recommendation and contracts have been sent to jB+a for execution. The cost of the park projects is estimated at $1.2 million.
  • A request for proposal for the design of improvements at Shaw Park has been submitted and proposals will be accepted Dec. 13.
