South Cobb Design Committee Tops Commission Agenda

Cobb BOC also to vote on liquor license appeal by new Johnson Ferry pizzeria.

The Cobb County commissioners are set to decide today whether to create a committee to determine zoning and development applications that deviate from requirements in the new Mableton Redevelopment District.

That item headlines the agenda of today's regular meeting that begins at 9 a.m. at the BOC meeting room on the second floor of 100 Cherokee Street in downtown Marietta.

The Mableton Form-Based Redevelopment District is essentially the creation of a pedestrian-friendly town center in Mableton that will enhance the area and bring in businesses and developers.

The unicorporated section of Mableton is roughly bound by Floyd Road, Veterans Memorial Highway, Patterns Drive and Clay Road.

In East Cobb items, the commission will hear an appeal by the owners of Aurilio's for a liquor license to run a new pizzeria on Johnson Ferry Road, in the location of the former Atlanta Bread Company eatery.
