Noonday Creek Road, Bridge Updates

Another segment of improvements along Shallowford Road has been completed.

The office of District 3 Cobb Commissioner JoAnn Birrell reports that Shallowford Road at Noonday Creek opened to traffic on Friday.

It's one segment of a continuing road construction and maintenance project in the Northeast Cobb area, extending from Shiloh Road east along Shallowford Road to Canton Road.

Maintenance work will continue starting Saturday through next Friday, Aug. 2, on Shallowford Road, between Wade Green Road and Canton Road.

Periodic lane closures will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with one lane open, while the contractor installs storm drainage, curb & gutter, water main, and utilities.

Also this week, Birrell visited Noonday Creek Bridge to inspect continuing work on the final segment of the Noonday Creek trail.

The ongoing improvements include 2.5 miles of multi-use trail from Barrett Lakes Boulevard to Noonday Creek, then east along the creek to Bells Ferry Road.

The project also includes two pedestrian bridges over Noonday Creek and sections of elevated walkway. The project is currently under construction and is scheduled to be complete in summer 2014.

Other Northeast Cobb road work projects that will be going on this week include:
