Canton Road Corridor

Construction complete.

County Line Road

Safety improvements and better traffic flow for the County Line Road corridor are near completion. Bad weather and utility delays prolonged the project, according to the Cobb DOT.

The project consists of approximately five miles of roadway improvements on County Line Road between Due West and Mars Hill roads. Improvements include reconstruction of five intersections, replacement of the bridge over Allatoona Creek, replacement of the culvert north of Burnt Hickory Road, and widening of the existing two-lane roadway. The curb, gutter and sidewalks have been added. A roundabout has been installed at the intersection of County Line and Burnt Hickory roads.

The project completion date is the end of March.

Noonday Creek Trail

Work continues on the nearly seven mile long Noonday Creek Trail, which will connect pedestrians and cyclists from the Town Center mall area to Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park.

In Northeast Cobb, the trail is still under construction. It runs northward along Barrett Lakes Blvd. to Noonday Creek. From Noonday Creek, the trail runs under I-75, crosses Busbee Parkway at Town Center Drive, goes under I-575 and Chastain Meadows Parkway before ending at the western side of Bells Ferry Road. A small gravel parking lot on county owned land just off of Bells Ferry Road will be a trailhead.

This phase of the project is expected to be complete by summer.

Sandy Plains at East Piedmont Road- GDOT

Construction continues to widen the roadways to provide additional left turn and right turn lanes at each intersection approach. The intersection improvements include dual left turn and right turn lanes on all four quadrants of the intersection, median modifications, curb and gutter, sidewalks, crosswalks and ADA ramps. The existing traffic signal has been upgraded.Β

The project should be complete May 2012.
