Jewish Group Endorses TSPLOST

The Atlanta office of the American Jewish Committee this week spoke in support of the July 31 Regional Transportation Referendum.

The Atlanta Regional Office of American Jewish Committee has announced its support of the July 31 Regional Transportation Referendum. Here's the full statement released Thursday by AJC regional director Dov Wilker:

“As an organization devoted to helping realize a more pluralistic world where the rights of minorities are respected, we are especially keen on initiatives that will help reduce our use of and dependence on oil in our transportation sector which is supplied by unstable, unfriendly and undemocratic regimes. Thus, we welcome steps which will reduce this dependence by helping Atlantans commute more efficiently and offer alternatives to the daily drive."

"Transportation logistics have become an economic fuel to the metro Atlanta region since its inception with Atlanta formerly named Terminus. Based on historical precedent, the significance of passing the transportation referendum cannot be understated, with current and future generations having the ability to expand previous efforts."

TSPLOST Campaign manager Che Watkins on the AJC endorsement:

“The support of the Jewish community is integral, particularly in Fulton and DeKalb. We are proud to have a wide variety of organizations linking arms to pass this referendum. At the end of the day, we rise and fall together as a region.”
