Commissioners Approve Convenience Store Expansion

Cobb Planning commissioners approved a Northeast Cobb Conoco convenience store to expand, but with strict conditions.

Tuesday voted 4-1, with Commissioner Mike Terry opposing, to allow the expansion Amin Lalani's Conoco convenience store located on the corner of Trickum Road and Shallowford Road in Northeast Cobb.

Lalani plans to add 1,047 square feet to the store's current 1,840 square foot size.

The commission stipulated that no products can be stored outside and that no other businesses can operate in the expanded building. If the store fails to expand within 12 months, the commission requires that the property return to its current zoning. They told Bob Hoffman, Lalani's developer, that the site must be landscaped with trees.

Terry said he was skeptical that Hoffman would follow what the commission recommends.

Two Northeast Cobb Coalition speakers told commissioners that they’d met with store developers. Developers agreed to add landscaping and erect a wooden fence around the store’s trash bin, but the speakers felt more improvements are needed.
