Record Snowfall Last Weekend, and Rain Tomorrow

Our weekend brush with snow wasn't much to write home about, but it did break a record for March 3 — but that record previously stood at zero snowfall.

Around here, we got a dusting, but some parts of northern Georgia got an inch of snow, maybe more in the mountains. It all melted pretty quickly.

Tuesday will be warmer, maybe 60 degrees, which is average for this time of year. Rain will also return.

But the rain moves out by Wednesday with a high in the low 50s and nighttime low around 39. Wednesday's high in Northeast Cobb will only be 49, but will be back in the low 60s headed into the weekend.

“None of the next five days reaches our average high for the first part of March in the low 60s,” a meteorologist told the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

The recent rains have losened soil, causing many downed trees across the area. More rain only increases the chance of more fallen trees.

A large tree fell on Erin Avenue in southwest Atlanta early Saturday and knocked down power lines.
