Amateur Radiomen Have a Field Day

Their annual celebration lets them ham it up with fellow enthusiasts across North America.

The Kennehoochee Amateur Radio Club (KARC) held its annual Radio Field Day this weekend at in Acworth, sponsored by the American Radio Relay League.

The goal of Field Day was for KARC members to work as many stations and contact as many fellow amateur radio enthusiasts as possible around the United States and Canada in 24 hours, beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday. More than 35,000 amateurs across North America participate in Field Day every year.

KARC also held a family picnic as part of Field Day, so burgers, hot dogs and soft drinks were plentiful to celebrate the day.
