Small Business Q&A: CK's Cleaners

Clean laundry makes for happy business in Northeast Cobb.

Kye Chung, the owner and operator of CK's Cleaners, has kept her dry cleaning and laundry service running by word-of-mouth promotion for the past 15 years.

The Korean-born businesswoman followed her sister to work in Georgia 27 years ago.

Q. What's the best thing about your job?
A. Spot removal and pressing make a lot of people happy.

Q. What is the best thing about Northeast Cobb?
A. I like the quiet. It's safe here.

Q. Why did you choose to open your business in Northeast Cobb?
A. I have lived in this area for about 20 years.

Q. Why did you pick this kind of business?
A. When I came to Georgia, I worked as a waitress first, and then I got into the dry cleaning business. I liked spot removal and learned about using the chemicals. I like the work.

Q. What are some of the services you offer that people don't know about?
A. We clean area rugs and wash and fold clothes. We wash shoes. Anything that can be washed in the machine, we clean.

Q. How long have you been in business?
A. I bought Chuck's Cleaners about 15 years ago and changed the named to CK's Cleaners. We moved to this location in April.

Q. How did your business get started?
A. I was working in the cleaning business. When you work for someone else, you can't grow. I wanted a better future. Chuck's Cleaners was for sale. It was a family-owned business for about 30 years when I bought it. It already had regular customers. It was simple to start.
