81-Year-Old's Souped-Up Plane Hits Car at Athens Airport

An 81-year-old Athens man spent years honing a new engine for his home-built airplane, but when he tried it out at Ben Epps airport, the rest of the plane couldn't handle it.

Too strong for its own brakes, the plane crashed into a car and hangar at the airport on Monday, the Athens Banner-Herald reports. For more read Athens Patch.

UPDATE: Crane Breaks and Leaves Macy's Tree Dangling from Side of Lenox Square Store 

A spokeswoman with Macy's tells Buckhead Patch that the Great Tree at Macy's in Lenox Square fell into the roof of the store's men's department when the crane snapped Wednesday morning.

Police Searching for Suspect Who Robbed Buckhead Bank Wednesday 

On Wednesday, just before 2:30 p.m., a man robbed the Suntrust bank inside the Publix Supermarket at 2900 Peachtree Road.
