Where to Wear St. Paddy's Day Green

Here are some of the options in and around Northeast Cobb for green beer, corned beef and cabbage, and more.

  • , 700 Sandy Plains Rd., offers a choice of corned beef and cabbage, fish and chips, or shepherd’s pie for $6.95 at lunch and $8.95 at dinner, plus two drink specials—Guinness for $3 and an Irish car bomb (a mix of Guinness, Bailey’s and Jameson) for $5. Plus, it’s as the best place to go for St. Paddy’s Day.
  • , 3595 Canton Rd., presents Atlanta rock band Gritty and Pink to drive the celebration.
  • Atlanta’s 130th St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Saturday at noon, marks Atlanta’s Irish heritage with an afternoon of floats, bands, bagpipes, clowns and activities. The parade begins at Peachtree Street and Ralph McGill Boulevard, travels down Peachtree, and ends at 5 Points on Marietta Street.
  • , 780 Cobb Place Blvd., Kennesaw, like all the area locations of the chain, has live music, drink and food specials, and Irish entertainment planned throughout the day and deep into the night.
  • Marlow’s Tavern, , Kennesaw, and 1311 Johnson Ferry Rd., Suite 208, Marietta (East Cobb), features corned beef and colcannon, fish and chips, bangers and mash, and corn-beef-and-cabbage eggrolls to accompany Guinness, green beer and special Irish cocktails.
  • , 279 Powers Ferry Rd., Suite H, Marietta (East Cobb), has specials on Guinness, Guinness Black Lager and Killian's, plus home-cooked corned beef and cabbage with mashed potatoes starting at 6 p.m.

The weather will be hot for March 17, with a high of about 82 degrees—not a bad thing if you're drinking beer or admiring young ladies in kilts. The downside is there's a 40 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms, paticularly after 2 p.m., the National Weather Service says.

Just remember to designate a driver who won't be drinking, or make arrangements for a ride home from the festivities. If the danger of driving drunk isn't enough to persuade you not to take stupid chances, remember that the Georgia State Patrol plans a .
