Washington's Birthday, Banks and Post Offices Closed

What's happening in Northeast Cobb.

1. Today is Presidents Day, and Washington's Birthday. It is a federal holiday. Banks will be closed. No mail delivery.

2. Cobb Photographic Society Camera Club meeting. The camera club welcomes photographers of all skill and ability levels.  The Cobb Photographic Society meets on the first and third Monday of each month. Membership is $25 per year, but you are welcome to attend meetings as a visitor.  The club offers competitions, learning opportunities through lectures and seminars, mentoring programs, field trips and camaraderie. Whether you are a seasoned professional or just picking up the hobby for the first time, this club is for you. 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Marietta Enrichment Center located at the American Business Center, Bldg. 700, Ste. 702, 1395 S. 3. Do you like quilting, or wanted to learn? Join the Marietta Adventist Church Stitch-N-Fellowship. Beginners and guests are welcome, so don't be shy about dropping in to see if the group is right for you. The group combines quilting, Bible study and fellowship. 7 p.m. in the side room of the gym. 4. East Cobb Baseball Academy will be conducting day camps during February Winter break. Check-in on all days will be at the main gate of the complex. Each camper will get a t-shirt. Players should be dressed for camp daily with baseball pants and bring all baseball gear- pants, hats, glove, bat and position specific gear. Please come and join our staff of former professional and college coaches and players. At camp we will learn the basic fundamentals of baseball of fielding, pitching, catching, outfield play and hitting. Be prepared to work hard, learn a lot, and have fun. Please bring a snack and plenty to drink. Water will be provided. Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. - 12;30 p.m.  East Cobb Baseball Complex, 4617 Lee Waters Rd. Cost: $175 for the week. 5. Need something fun for the kids to enjoy while on school break? During the school holiday breaks, the YMCA is excited to provide healthy and fun activities for your child. Qualified counselors will lead activities that will help build your child’s self confidence, strengthen their social skills, deepen their respect for others and build lasting relationships. Activities include swimming, crafts, sports, group games and making new friends. Pack a lunch, drink, two snacks, swim suit and a towel. Members: $35/day. Program members: $55/day. Price includes pre-care, 7:30 a.m. - 9 a.m. and after-care, 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Today through Feb. 25, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at McCleskey East Cobb YMCA, 1055 East Piedmont Road.
