State Rep. Bobby Franklin Cause of Death Pending

The Cobb County Medical Examiner's Office is waiting for toxicology test results before releasing an official cause of death.

Forensic Investigator Mark Latham of the Cobb County Medical Examiner's Office told Northeast Cobb Patch that State Representative Bobby Franklin's cause of death will not be known for at least 90 days.

"We're awaiting results from toxicology tests. The testing takes at least 90 days," Latham said.

No foul play is suspected in Franklin's death, according to the Cobb County Police Department.

Franklin's close friend Jenny Hodges speculates that he suffered a massive heart attack.

"He was having extreme chest pains," she said.

Franklin was found dead at his Northeast Cobb home on July 26. His funeral was held Monday at the Cumming Baptist Church.
