Recycled Art Workshop

Gather around the water cooler to discuss what's happening in Northeast Cobb today, June 2.

1. Is your teen creative? Gritters Library has a fun program for ages 13 to 18 today called the Recycled Art Workshop (recycled purses and wallets). Registration Required. 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. 880 Shaw Park Road. For more information, call 770-528-2524.

2. Bring the whole family to the Globe Trekking Family Films at the Mountain View Library. Today's feature film, Around the World in 80 Days (2004 – Jackie Chan), Rated PG. There’ll be a new continent featured every Thursday. 3 p.m. 3320 Sandy Plains Road. Call the library for more information at 770-509-2725.

3. The kicked off its Summer Reading Program Wednesday. It's actually three programs in one: one for children, one for teens and one for adults. Stop by the Gritters Library, Mountain View Regional Library, East Marietta or East Cobb branch to sign up and get more details.

4. Wednesday marked the start of the Atlantic hurricane season. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Climate Prediction Center expects an above-normal season through Nov. 30. You'll probably be hearing these names a lot: Arlene, Bret, Cindy, Don, Emily, Franklin, Gert, Harvey, Irene, Jose, Katia, Lee. Those are the first 12 names for tropical storms this year, the National Hurricane Center says.

5. Marietta Business Association is having a networking event 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the United Community Bank, 200 Cherokee Street. You can register by clicking here. The Marietta Business Association supports MUST Ministries, both financially and with community service projects. The Association participates in the Partners in Education program, benefiting Dunleith Elementary School and the Marietta Center for Advanced Academics.
