National Cyber Awareness Day

Gather around the water cooler to discuss what's happening in Northeast Cobb today, May 17.

1. The Cobb County Board of Commissioners will vote on the land use permit for Snapfinger Properties, LLC/Marietta Recycling's scrap metal yard and transfer station. 2. The chilly temperatures will not stay with us much longer. According to the National Weather Service, today Northeast Cobb can expect a 20 percent chance of showers. The high temperature will be near 66. Tonight, mostly cloudy, with a low around 46.

The high temperature will rise each day until Friday when it is expected to be 85. Enjoy the cool, spring-like temperatures while they last.

3. It is National Cyber Awareness Day, a great opportunity to discuss cyber bullying, sexting, and more with your kids. You don't know what sexting is? 5. The Genealogical Society of Cobb County will hold its monthly meeting 7 p.m. at The First Presbyterian Church of Marietta, 189 Church St. This meeting is open to the public. Robert Jones of Kennesaw will speak on the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. He is President of the Kennesaw Historical Society, as well as Program and Education chairman of the Kennesaw Museum Foundation.
