Heavy Rain, Light Football, Murder Extradition

1. The flash-flooding threat isn’t over, but the worst of the rain should be past us by 8 a.m., the National Weather Service says. It will be mostly cloudy with occasional showers possible the rest of the day. The high will be about 78; the overnight low will be around 58.

2. A little rain won’t stop high school football tonight. Northeast Cobb Patch will have a preview of the only game on the local schedule, at in Region 5-AAAA. 3. It’s Senior Citizens Day and Georgia Lottery Day at the at in Marietta. That means admission is free if you’re 55 or older; if you’re not, you can cut $1 off the price by bringing a losing lottery ticket.

4. Wael Ali, the Northeast Cobb man arrested last week and charged with the murder of his twin brother in 2007 in Howard County, MD, this morning, Columbia Patch reports. Cobb County Sheriff’s Office records show that Ali was released to the custody of Maryland officers Thursday just before 8 a.m. after a week in the Cobb jail. Columbia Patch will have continuing developments in the case.

5. NASA is spending the first day of fall tracking the , whose pieces are expected to crash to Earth this afternoon or evening. The space agency says UARS won’t be over North America during those times, but it will post updates on projections as they become available.
