5. I saw two coyotes running across a Chattahoochee river access road off Columns Drive this weekend. I was getting out of my car to fish. I saw something out of the corner of my eye and glanced at the road. They ran side-by-side. When we made eye contact, they spooked and ran faster into the woods. I jumped into my car and slammed the door shut.

The coyotes were healthy and magnificent looking.

I fished. I did not see the coyotes again.

I was surprised that they were in the area considering all the recreation along the river, bicycle trails, and runners.

I believe in sharing space with wildlife. It's important to face the possibility of crossing paths with wildlife and plan accordingly. You may want to carry a boat horn which will scare anyone and anything away, including bears.
