The Georgia Symphony Orchestra ends its 73rd season with ‘Beethoven’s Universe,’ an awe-inspiring, innovative, multimedia concert experience. Two performances are scheduled to take place May 18-19, 2024, at the&nbsp;Dr. Bobbie Bailey and Family Performance Center in Kennesaw, Ga.


GSO Music Director and Conductor Timothy Verville will lead the orchestra and 100-plus members of the GSO Chorus as they&nbsp;perform Eric Whitacre’s composition, “Deep Field,” live to the film “Deep Field: The Impossible Magnitude of our Universe.”&nbsp;Combining stunning imagery from the Hubble Space Telescope, never-seen-before galaxy fly-bys and custom animations, the&nbsp;film creates an immersive, unforgettable journey from planet Earth to the furthest edges of our universe. Audience members&nbsp;will be encouraged to take a more active role in the piece via a free app on their mobile devices.




This unique musical program also includes Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 9.” This beloved masterpiece, written for orchestra&nbsp;and chorus, celebrates the ideals of joy, freedom and equality, and is often hailed as one of the greatest human achievements&nbsp;in music.


The winners of the GSO’s 2024 Beethoven’s 9th national vocal competition will be the featured soloists: soprano Emma&nbsp;Robertson, mezzo-soprano Tetyana Vaknovska, tenor William Green and bass/baritone Jacob Lay.

In the spirit of honoring our fallen heroes, the Cobb New Horizons Symphonic Band is proud to present a special musical performance on the 27th of May, 2024. The band, under the direction of Dr. Charles R. Jackson, will be performing at The Park at City Center, located at 101 Arnold Mill Road, Woodstock, GA 30188. The event will commence at 9:30 am with the special musical performance, followed by the main ceremony at 10:00 am.
The Cobb New Horizons Symphonic Band is renowned for its exceptional musical prowess, and this Memorial Day, they will be showcasing their talent with a special performance. The band will be playing a selection of patriotic and classical music to honor the memory of those who have served and sacrificed for their country.
