Kell Teacher and Student to Accept Award at Carnegie Hall

Kell High School recently had two students selected as regional finalists in the Scholastic Art Competition.

Kell High School students Michelle Colbert and Jennifer Anzovino were selected as regional finalists in the Scholastic Art Competition and went on to the National Scholastics Art Competition in the Ceramics/Glass and Photography categories.

Anzovino won the gold medal at the National level. Her photograph, selected as a National Gold Key winner, is currently on display in the main hallway near the band room.

Anzovino and her teacher Julie Denison will travel to New York in May to accept the award at Carnegie Hall during the National Awards Gala.

Kell High School was the only Cobb county school to receive an award at the national level.

Distinguished Scholastic Art and Writing Awards alumni include Andy Warhol, Robert Redford, Richard Avedon, Zac Posen, Joyce Carol Oates, Sylvia Plath, John Lithgow, Ned Vizzini, Abdi Farah (winner of the Bravo reality show Work of Art: The Next Great Artist) and esteemed artist John Baldessari, who will accept the Alliance's annual Alumni Achievement Award at the Carnegie Hall Awards Ceremony.
