Warrant: Mom Tries to Stab Teen Over Sliced Watermelon

She is in custody at the Cobb County Adult Detention in lieu of $20,000 bond.

A Northeast Cobb woman attempted to stab her 17-year-old son over a sliced watermelon, police said.

About 2:33 p.m. Monday, Alma Denise Bowens allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and tried to stab her 17-year-old son "because he sliced the watermelon and she could not store it in the refrigerator," police said.

When the juvenile, who received a cut on his finger, tried to call for help, Bowens allegedly pulled the phone wires from the wall jack to prevent him from dialing 911, according to an arrest warrant.

Bowens was arrested on charges that include aggravated assault, cruelty to children and obstruction. She is in custody at the Cobb County Adult Detention in lieu of $20,000 bond.
