The law wasn't struck down because principle of it was wrong it was struck down becuse of the loopholes it contained penalizing one type of retailer while allowing supermarkets to carry on as normal.

We gouge ourselves on mega portions then blame everyone else for us getting fat, the majority of people are incapable of making the right choice, the law was an acknowledgement of this fact just wasn't thought out well enough. Who in their right mind would pay the extra buck for a mega cup when you could get the smallest and simply refill it for no extra change, makes our not so regular trip to fiveguys that much cheaper 1 22oz soda 3 straws fill up when nessescary .

Bill you will have no argument from regarding the FDA or the USDA.

Boeing knowingly were delivering aircraft with shoddy batteries because they were behind schedule and way over budget, putting lives at risk. History also shows us when the airlines were supposed to be managing safety they proved incapable because of cost cutting resulted in the loss of 270 lives over Scotland in 1988 because PAN-AM wasn't doing their job to boost the bottom line. More recently gaps in security at the freight airliners because they were not adequately scanning cargo a task that is left for them to do resulted in another security scare with the printer cartridge bombs. Give a man an inch and they will take a mile. Market forces do not play a single role when it comes to safety its the accounts that will decide.

How many passengers have to die before that happens. How do you control and foreign owned airline. Look what happened with Dreamliner battery debacle luckily no one died Boeing would have not done anything unless they were not forced to by the Japanese safety board. The government agencies are their for a reason. The question is have they grown to big Bureaucratic answer is most defiantly yes should they all be closed down and left to market forces answer hell no. These agencies need to be made more efficient more public oversight not just by politicians but a mixture of both the respective industry, politicians and in the case of the TSA passenger groups. With all this paid for by the respective industry not the tax payer. Bill you do make some good points in all you posts but you then water it down with crazy. The Issues we face don't have black ad white solutions. They are not going to be solved by closing down every last federal government department at the same way they are not going to beloved by expanding massively inefficient federal government departments.

You will find its a very 20th-21st century thinking my friend. When good people finally stood up and said enough is enough and finally swept away Victorian ways of thinking and said we will no longer allow fellow human beings to starve or be denied basic medical care based on their sex, race, income bracket or religious beliefs. If you go and read the collective works of Charles Dickens this is the world you currently want to recreate.

Reader beware anyone posting with an opposing view to Bill no matter how many facts are listed which shows that Bill is still living in the 18th Century will be blasted with childish sarcasm and name calling. Bills world view is that women, black people gays and the poor have only themselves to blame and the greed created by the pursuit of the almighty dollar and a society of all men for themselves has had no part in our current situation. His world is a dying flicker in history and poor Billy doesn't like it. Billy boy come down from BS mountain and try living in the real world.
