Bio Born in Chicago, Justin Ove moved with his family to Georgia in 1992. Always a gifted writer, Justin was encouraged to pursue a writing career, be it as an author or newspaper reporter. A 2006 graduate of Northview High School in Duluth, Justin first attended Young Harris College then moved to Atlanta to study Journalism at Georgia State University.
After graduating in 2010 with honors, Justin began sending out resumes and building an online presence he hoped would attract hiring managers. In November, 2010, he was contacted and hired by Patch as a freelance contributor for Acworth Patch.
For the next 18 months, Justin diligently covered city council meetings, business openings and earned a reputation as a fair and hard-working reporter. Justin also harnessed his storytelling and multimedia skills, constantly improving his journalism IQ.
In June, 2012, Justin's efforts were rewarded when he was named the Local Editor of the Northeast Cobb Patch. He is now fully committed to bringing the same work ethic and pursuit of the truth that he honed in Acworth to the people of Northeast Cobb. He sincerely hopes that Northeast Cobb citizens will welcome him to the community and take an active part in the Patch experience, creating an atmosphere that is conducive to engagement and information.
I believe in the idea of Patch. I love the concept of "online coffeehouse," where citizens of small towns and big cities across the nation can read local news, discuss interesting topics with their neighbors, and share their favorite recipes or announce important events in their lives.
On the editorial front, I strongly believe in being as objective as possible and to present as many angles to a story as possible. Everyone has a right to say their piece, and it's my job to make sure that anyone that wants to add their voice to the conversation is able to and is encouraged to. If you feel that I could do a better job in any aspect of the editorial process, do not hesitate to contact me.
I am a Goldwater conservative, but don't let my political views shape my opinions of others with different views. The best part about this country is that we can all share our ideas without fear of intimidation or persecution.
How religious would you consider yourself? (casual, observant, devout, non religious)
I am not a particularly religious person, but I don't mind those that are.
