Forty-two Cobb restaurants will be participating in the event.
Over three dozen local restaurants have partnered with Cobb Travel and Tourism to present the 2012 Cobb Restaurant Week. The event, which will be held from Sept. 8-15, allows diners to sample a 3-course meal for a fixed price of $15, $25 or $35. These prices do not include tax. It is highly recommended that patrons wishing to take advantage of the fixed price courses call in advance to make reservations. Alternately, reservations can be made by booking online. Please do not book multiple times at multiple restaurants. Restaurants in Northeast Cobb that are taking part this year are: A full list of participating restaurants can be found here. Scotch Bonnet peppers, plantains and a natural drink called Mack Truck feed the hunger for Jamaican home cooking in Northeast Cobb.
Blackwell Square Shopping Center made the news in September when plans were approved for Walmart to build and open a neighborhood food market in place of America's Thrift Store. A slow drive by the storefronts of the 1980s-era plaza shows no sign of what is coming. The current mix of corporate retail, independent businesses and empty windows sings a subtle call of opportunity to the entrepreneurial ear. Three men heard and responded to the call eight months ago by opening Jerk Pan Restaurant in the flat economy of 2011. Damion Palmer, Patrick Sutherland and Lloyd Gordon are hands-on partners in the 28-seat cafe with carryout and eat-in customers. Gordon cooks and oversees the kitchen. Palmer takes charge of the front. Sutherland fills in …

It appears to be a safe time to eat out in Northeast Cobb. We told you last week that Cobb & Douglas Public Health's inspections of restaurants and other food preparation sites in Northeast Cobb produced 13 A's and two B's. This week the results are even better: nine A's, including seven 100s and a 99, and only one B. Sure, most of the facilities this week, like several of the top scorers last week, are schools. But they each serve hundreds of meals a day to our children; they count.

Northeast Cobb Patch has found some restaurants that will be open tomorrow and might save your holiday sanity: We hope nothing derails your Thanksgiving dinner plans, but it's always a good idea to have a back-up plan or six.
