Nearly One-Third of Cobb Jobs Pay Big: Study

A series of briefs released by the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies compares the total distribution of jobs in number and in income throughout Georgia.

Cobb County holds more than seven percent of all jobs in Georgia, with 31 percent of them being high-paying, “premium” jobs, according to a new study released by Georgia State University in Atlanta. The study, released by the Fiscal Research Center of the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, offers maps, tables, and information about the distribution in number and pay of jobs in Georgia. Using the latest establishment-level data reported in the Georgia Department of Labor’s Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages, each policy brief provides information on the distribution, type and quality of jobs (weighted as premium, mid-range and low-paying) for every county and municipality in Georgia, and shows their total employment as a percent …

Career Expo Wednesday in Cobb

Those attending should bring their résumés, be prepared to fill out applications and possibly interview for available job openings.

The Georgia Department of Labor’s Cobb-Cherokee Career Center will assist Diversity Hiring with a career expo Wednesday. The expo will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cobb Galleria Centre, located at Two Galleria Parkway in Cobb County. The expo will feature a number of employers, educational institutions and resource agencies that provide assistance to job seekers. Some employers will be hiring, while others will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers. Other organizations will be providing educational and other resources.
