There are many options for those looking to welcome 2012 in style. What's your choice?

So, with Christmas 2011 now but a memory, it's time to move ahead to the next–and last–big event of this year. There are many Northeast Cobb area parties and options to choose from, all leading up to the "3-2-1 ... HAPPY NEW YEAR!"  Do you want to be front-and-center for the 23rd Annual Peach Drop in Atlanta? The event closes with a spectacular fireworks display. Are you heading to the bars? Is a particular bar offering a package deal, complete with free champagne toast at midnight? Heading to a house party, either here or outside of town, filled with revelers…

App Aids in Finding Rides for New Year's Eve

If you're planning to drink on New Year's Eve, check out this app.

A smartphone app provided by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety will give New Year's Eve partygoers a way to find a ride home with just the swipe of a finger. The Drive Sober, Georgia app also will provide users with information about drinking and driving. The app can be downloaded for Android and iPhone, and a simulation is available here.  According to a news release from the Cobb County Police Department, the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism last year reported two to three times more people died in alcohol-related vehicle crashes over the winter holidays compared to periods during the rest of the year. Traffic fatalities involving an alcohol-impaired driver averaged 28 percent in December but rose to 40 percent …
