And the jackpot is $170 million for tonight’s Mega Millions drawing.
Georgia Lottery officials announced Tuesday that Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot has grown from $350 million to $360 million. The amount increased as a result of brisk ticket sales, Georgia Lottery spokeswoman Kimberly M. Starks said. Since April 3, the Powerball jackpot has rolled 12 times. The winner can opt to receive 30 graduated payments over 29 years or collect about $229 million.

Kroger is always busy the morning of Mother's Day as men buy last-minute cards and flowers for their wives. Blakely Wolf did a little bit better than a dozen roses, even if she did have to wait an extra day. The 49-year-old East Cobb woman's husband this morning gave her a Fantasy 5 ticket that matched all five numbers from Sunday's drawing: 3-23-26-29-38. The ticket is good for a $206,502 jackpot, which the mother of a 9-year-old boy cashed in today in Atlanta. “My husband called me into the living room this morning and told me,” Wolf said, according to a Georgia Lottery press release. “We were flabbergasted.” Her husband bought the Quik Pik ticket at Kroger on Shallowford Road in Northeast Cobb. “I just never thought it would be possible…

The multi-state Mega Millions lottery game has more than a half billion-dollar jackpot for Friday night’s draw. Let that roll around on your tongue for a while... half a billion dollars. $540 million. Any way you phrase it, if you win the jackpot you better learn how to say “new tax bracket." A recent Bloomberg report names Georgia residents as some of "the biggest suckers" in America. Georgia resident spent $3.4 billion on lottery tickets over the past year. That averages $470.73 per adult -- 1% of their annual income. Its low rate of winning lottery payouts (62.9%) landed the state No. 1 on Bloomberg's "sucker index." Friday's big jackpot could mean instant financial security for some lucky person and a chance at some serious …

The Georgia Lottery announced that starting Sunday, Jan. 15 retailers would sell tickets for the redesigned Powerball game. The first drawing is scheduled for Wednesday. The price change from $1 per play to $2 per play offers players a new option in multi-state jackpot games with more chances to become millionaires, bigger starting jackpots, and better odds of winning, reports the Georgia Lottery. Players can add the Power Play feature for an additional $1 per play and win an even bigger second prize of $2 million cash. There will no longer be a multiplier number drawn. See new prize chart. Someone left the three tickets in Northeast Cobb's Unity North Atlanta Church collection plate during a recent Sunday service.
The Georgia Lottery reported that the Unity North Atlanta Church received a donation of three winning Keno tickets worth $4,069. Church staff claimed the prize Aug. 1. “This is a first for us,” church office manager Wendy Beck told the Georgia Lottery. She said the church will apply the winnings toward its mortgage and monthly bills. “We are so very grateful for the generosity of our anonymous donor and for the lives that will be touched through the Georgia Lottery,” presiding minister the Rev. Richard Burdick said. Two of the tickets were purchased at a QuikTrip on North Cobb Parkway. The third ticket was bought at the Chevron Food Mart on Sandy Plains Road, both in Northeast Cobb, lottery officials said.
