I-75 Reopens After Robbery, Chase

About 10:54 a.m. today, the SunTrust Bank at 1755 Mars Hill Rd. was robbed, and a black woman drove away from the scene. Authorities pursued the woman all the way to Mt. Paran Road, where she wrecked her vehicle.

Police Tips on Avoiding Identity Theft

The latest Precinct 4 PENS alert contains safety information with the current tax season in mind.

The following safety information is provided by Precinct 4 of the Cobb Police Department: Identity theft is a year round problem that often spikes around tax refund time. Identity thieves can use a taxpayer's personal information to fraudulently file a tax return and claim a refund and the unsuspecting victim may not become aware until their own refund gets denied. In other cases the identity thief may use the taxpayer's personal information in order to get a job. The victim remains unaware until the IRS sends out a notice indicating underreported income. Identity thieves can access your personal information by many different means including: Stealing your wallet or purse Posing as someone who needs information about you through a phone …

Cyclist Killed on Bells Ferry Road

The accident at Wentworth Drive shut down northbound lanes of Bells Ferry Wednesday afternoon.

A bicylist was struck and killed by a car Wednesday afternoon along Bells Ferry Road, according to media reports. The Marietta Daily Journal reported that the accident, which took place around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Bells Ferry and Wentworth Drive, killed the male cyclist, who accidentally pulled out into northbound traffic after losing control of his bike. Cobb Police have not identified the victim, who died at the scene. Northbound lanes of Bells Ferry were shut down and traffic was diverted on to southbound lane, according to a WSB-TV report, making the afternoon traffic commute on the busy road even more difficult.
