District 3 Cobb Commissioner JoAnn Birrell will have her first town hall meeting of 2013 from 7-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 19 in the Board of Commissioners meeting room. It is located on the 2nd floor of 100 Cherokee Street, Marietta. The focus of the town hall will be the upcoming car tag tax changes. Tax Commissioner Gail Downing will conduct a presentation followed by a Q & A period.
The Republican Senator will meet with constituents Tuesday at the Mountain View Regional Library.
Georgia State Sen. Judson Hill (R-East Cobb) will hold his first town hall meeting of the current legislative session early next week. The meeting takes place next Tuesday starting at 7 p.m. at the Mountain View Regional Library, 3320 Sandy Plains Road. Hill, the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, also serves on the Appropriations, Insurance and Labor, Rules and Regulated Industries and Utilities committees. District 3 Cobb Commissioner JoAnn Birrell will have a town hall meeting tonight from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Mountain View Community Center, located on 3400 Sandy Plains Road. She will spotlight the Canton Road Redevelopment Foundation. Birrell has been working in recent months to revive economic development in the Canton Road Corridor, beginning with a request before the Development Authority of Cobb for seed money to fund a non-profit entity that would provide loans. She also created the redevelopment committee, made up of civic and business interests in the Canton Road and Northeast Cobb community. On Feb. 16, East Cobb District 3 commissioner JoAnn Birrell will hold a town hall meeting at 7 p.m. at the Mountain View Community Center. The guest is Cobb County Planning Division Manager Dana Johnson. She will discuss Comprehensive Plan and Future Land Use Map amendments and the Canton Road redevelopment plan. Commission chairman Tim Lee will hold four town hall meetings throughout the county from February through April. His first town hall is Feb. 13 at the West Cobb Senior Center in Powder Springs. In February, he will meet with citizens at the Smyrna Community Center. Lee's Northeast and East Cobb town hall will take place at the Mountain View Community Center on Tuesday, April 10. The final town hall is May 14 in Mableton.
