Children's Healthcare of Atlanta recently broke ground in Cobb County. The new pediatric imaging center is scheduled to open in November.

Weekend Spotlight: Santa Arrives in Cobb

Get ready for Santa's first stop in Cobb County at Town Center Mall in Kennesaw.

This week's Cobb, Douglas and Paulding Weekend Spotlight features the arrival of Santa Claus at Town Center at Cobb. Santa Claus makes his first stop of the season Friday evening in Kennesaw. Festivities take place from 6-8 p.m. in Center Court and include entertainment by Radio Disney, face painting, holiday activities and more. St. Nick will be escorted to his holiday home with live reindeer at 7 p.m. outside the Food Court Main Entrance. Plus, the first 200 children visiting Santa that evening will receive a special gift (no purchase necessary), and all guests will receive festive giveaways (while supplies last) throughout the event. Town Center Stores Get Facelift

Belk, one of the mall's five anchor stores, has reopened this week.

Officials Wednesday celebrated the grand reopening of one of Town Center at Cobb's five anchor stores. They cut the ribbon on Belk, which has undergone extensive interior renovations, during an exclusive event. "Shoppers will experience a fully updated store interior along with enhanced retail offerings," according to a release from the mall. Belk isn't Town Center's only upgrade. The mall has announced a number of other changes. Johns Creek retailer Macrobatix, which specializes in all things Apple, recently signed a lease to build a new, 2,300-square-foot store on the lower level of the mall. The addition of Macrobatix will create 12 to 15 new jobs. And Forever 21 next Saturday will unveil its expanded 23,000-square-foot space on the …

Celebrate International Friendship Day

Families can participate in a 'Rio-themed' event inspired by the kids movie.

Join in today's celebration of International Friendship Day at Town Center at Cobb inspired by the Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment movie Rio, about a Spix Macaw who learns the meaning of friendship.  Children can participate in activities to learn about the importance of friendship and understanding just like Blu, Jewel, Rafael, Luiz and the rest of the gang from Rio. Friendship activities include the making a friendship bracelet for their BFF, taking a friendship pledge to promise to be kind, share and help others, and receive a Friendship Day certificate.
