Weekend Spotlight: Santa Arrives in Cobb

Get ready for Santa's first stop in Cobb County at Town Center Mall in Kennesaw.

This week's Cobb, Douglas and Paulding Weekend Spotlight features the arrival of Santa Claus at Town Center at Cobb. Santa Claus makes his first stop of the season Friday evening in Kennesaw. Festivities take place from 6-8 p.m. in Center Court and include entertainment by Radio Disney, face painting, holiday activities and more. St. Nick will be escorted to his holiday home with live reindeer at 7 p.m. outside the Food Court Main Entrance. Plus, the first 200 children visiting Santa that evening will receive a special gift (no purchase necessary), and all guests will receive festive giveaways (while supplies last) throughout the event. Commuter Bus Driver Stabbed with Pen

A bus driver is stabbed in the face trying to calm a verbal altercation between passengers.

Cobb County Police Officer B.J. Daniel arrested Taniesha Nicole Twyne of Mableton on Monday on charges of aggravated assault and theft by conversion. Twyne was riding a Cobb Community Transit bus and had borrowed another passenger’s cellphone but refused to return it, police said. A verbal altercation occurred between the two passengers. Bus driver Damian Haney, 39, stopped the bus at 400 Ernest Barrett Pkwy., near Town Center mall. He attempted to calm the situation. Police said Twyne brandished a knife, and Haney and Twyne struggled. She dropped the knife, but then grabbed a pen from Haney's shirt pocket and stabbed him repeatedly in the face. Your Child Can Be a Mini Chef

Town Center at Cobb Mall is hosting a fun event that teaches children culinary arts.

The annual “Simon Kidgits Club Super Duper Mini Chefs” event is back – returning to the Town Center at Cobb Mall.  Northeast Cobb families can stir up some tasty fun with a smorgasbord of exciting activities for kids and parents, including food-related arts and crafts projects and prize giveaways. Plus, Kidgits Club Members who bring a non-perishable food item to donate to a local hunger relief organization will receive a free kid's apron (while supplies last).
