Patch, Starbucks Team to Avert Fiscal Cliff

The two companies have joined forces to urge Congress to “Come Together” before tax hikes and spending cuts push America over the “fiscal cliff.”

On any given day, Metro Atlanta and Washington, D.C., might seem like they’re a million miles apart. Today is not one of those days. As Congress and President Barack Obama attempt to hash out differences to stop America from falling over the “Fiscal Cliff,” Patch and Starbucks are teaming up to urge Republicans and Democrats to “come together.” The two companies are working together to make sure Congress gets the message America wants a viable solution to the country’s financial woes. The so-called Fiscal Cliff encompasses all of the budget cuts and tax hikes that will automatically kick in if Congress doesn’t take action before Jan. 1, 2013. Some economists say the automatic changes will push the country into another recession. The White …

Nice sentiment and I hope it will work, but I am not at all convinced that it will do any good. http://www.schoolanduniversity.com/ Our politics and our Congress have entrenched themselves in their respective ideologies and are, at this point, refusing to budge. Compromise has become a dirty word in Washington, D.C. and all the nice sentiments on every coffee cup in every Starbucks in the country…   more ›

Speak Out: Would You Drink a $7 Coffee?

The pricey cup of joe can be found at select Starbucks stores. Would you consider dipping into your coffee budget to try it?

They’re not magic beans, but you’ll pay a high price for them—if you’re lucky enough to find some. Coffee giant Starbucks is offering Costa Rica Finca Palmilera. At $7 for a grande, it’s the Seattle-based company’s most expensive offering to date as well as one of its rarest, according to the Los Angeles Times. But coffee connoisseurs here in the Peach State are out of luck if they’re hoping to grab a cup at their corner Starbucks shop—the company is only offering the beverage in select stores in Washington state. What is this new coffee anyway? The Washington Post has chronicled the history of the Geisha heritage varietal, the bean from which the Costa Rica Finca Palmilera is made. The bean, which has its roots in Ethiopia, has gained …

Ready to Pay More at Starbucks?

Will you remain loyal to the Seattle java giant after seeing higher prices in Northeast Cobb?

Hey, loyal Starbucks customer, are you ready to fork out more for that “tall” latte? Well, ready or not, be prepared to do so as the Seattle coffee chain announced this week that select areas of the country, including metro Atlanta, will see menu prices increase by about 1 percent overall. The world's biggest coffee chain indicated that its pricing decisions are based on many factors, not just the price of java. Northeast Cobb has two Starbucks locations: 50 Barrett Pkwy. and 3605 Sandy Plains Rd. What’s your take on this? Will Starbucks keep you as a loyal customer? Or will you give Dunkin' Donuts or Derek's Coffee Shop a try? Or maybe you simply don’t need that morning cup of joe and could care less. Let us know.

I think the current price of $1.61 for a basic cup of Starbucks coffee is high, yet I'm a loyal customer. If prices get much higher, it might be worth investing in a coffee machine and barista classes for home.   more ›

Mom About Town

Starbucks Holiday Flavors Ending Soon

Seasonal favorite holiday flavors will be ending soon at Starbucks and will return next winter.

Do Caramel Brulee Latte, Peppermint Mocha, Eggnog Latte, and Gingerbread Latte ring a bell? If you are a Starbucks fan, they should. These are the flavors of the season enjoyed by local residents and neighbors around the globe. Now that Christmas has passed, the flavors will not be around much longer. Local Starbucks have stopped ordering the syrups. As soon as their current supply runs out, you will have to wait another year to enjoy these seasonal favorites. Drink up!
