The Cobb County Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin work this month on a replacement bridge on New Chastain Road over Noonday Creek. That's why the agency is holding a public information meeting from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Andrew United Methodist Church. Westbound lanes of New Chastain will be closed for four months. During that time period, westbound traffic will be diverted to the eastbound bridge and only one lane of New Chastain Road will be open in each direction.

The public is invited to take part Easter Saturday events on March 30 at St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Northeast Cobb. The church’s annual Easter Egg Scramble follows Breakfast with the Bunny, with funds raised at the breakfast supporting the church’s missions. The breakfast takes place from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. The cost is $5 for adults, $2.50 for children and free to those under the age of 2. The Easter Egg Scramble begins at 10 a.m. on the church's front lawn for children in the 5th grade and below. St. Andrew is sending 75 people on mission trips this summer to Bayou La Batre, Ala., Sevierville, Tenn., Panama City Beach, Fla., and the mountains of Appalachia. The women of St. Andrew United Methodist Church of Northeast Cobb invite area craft lovers to the 11th Annual “Fall Into Crafts” Marketplace on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12-13. Members of St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Northeast Cobb recently banded together to provide some much-needed books to the children who attend Andrew Christian School in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. “Andrew Christian School is the result of a visioning trip taken by Resendez and Garrett McCreery seven years ago,” said Marcie Millholland, director of Children’s Ministries at St. Andrew UMC. “They returned, shared the great need for Christian schools in Haiti, and involved the St. Andrew UMC congregation in the creation and building of the school.” The new shipment of books was purchased from the book drive fundraiser at St. Andrew UMC. The Youth Celebration Team from St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Northeast Cobb will entertain audiences on Tybee Island June 5-7. “This group shares the Love of God and conveys our Lord’s important messages to their audiences through the use of sign language, puppets, and voices,” said Lisa Springer, St. Andrew UMC’s director of youth ministries. “By using their talents in these areas, they are able to leave a lasting impression on everyone who attends one of their performances.
