Northeast Cobb Road Work, April 29-May 3

Check out the latest updates on road constructions, delays and detours before you start the week.

Here are the latest updates on road work being done around Northeast Cobb, according to the Cobb Department of Transportation. Georgia DOT continues work on the intersection and ramps at I-575 and Barrett Parkway. This project is scheduled to complete in June 2013. The proposed project is a new bridge over I-75 that connects Frey Road to Busbee Drive just north of Chastain Road. A roundabout is proposed at the intersection of the Skip Spann Connector and Busbee Drive. Davidson Road to Willow Point Parkway Expect delays and lane closures from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with one lane open for your commute. Northeast Cobb Road Work Update

Construction continues along Shiloh Road and Shallowford Road this week.

Here are the latest updates on road work being done in the Northeast Cobb area, according to the Cobb Department of Transportation. Georgia DOT continues work on the intersection and ramps at I-575 and Barrett Parkway. This project is scheduled to complete in June 2013. The Noonday Creek Trail Phase 2C project will add 2.5 miles of multi-use trail from Barrett Lakes Boulevard to Bells Ferry Road behind Town Center Mall. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2014.

Northeast Cobb Road Work Update

Northeast Cobb's roadways are being improved week by week.

The following information on road work updates comes from the office of District 3 Commissioner JoAnn Birrell: Canton Road to Trickum Road – Monday, Aug. 6 through Friday, Aug. 10 This section of construction is substantially complete. The contractor will continue adding the finishing touches which will include fine grading and grassing shoulders. Trickum Road to Jims Road – Monday, Aug. 6 through Friday, Aug. 10 Expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Trickum Road and Jims Road with one lane remaining open for your commute. Highway Lane May Open as Rush Hour Ends

Commuters on Hwy. 92 northbound have contended with construction since Sunday morning, but relief may be in site.

A check of the Patch Commuter traffic map shows that left lane on Hwy. 92 northbound by Sandy Plains Road remains closed, but it may reopen later this evening. The Georgia Department of Transportation reported the construction began Sunday at 10:23 a.m., and may end by 7:55 p.m. today, July 23. Expect Delays on Jamerson, Wigley

While the road construction is winding down between Canton and Trickum roads, the stretch from Trickum to Jims will be busy this week.

Here's what to expect if you're driving on Jamerson and Wigley roads between May 21 and 25, Northeast Cobb County Commissioner JoAnn Birrell of District 3 advises in her weekly email newsletter. The contractor will be working from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday on the road construction project, Birrell says. Intermittent lane closures for final striping and the installation of road signs. One lane will remain open at all times. Periodic lane closures while the contractor grades and paves the roadway and utility companies move facilities. One lane will remain open at all times, but you should expect delays. I-75 Toll Project Revs Up Again

The new lanes will open in early 2018 under a revamped public-private partnership, the state says.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is moving forward with the addition of toll lanes alongside Interstates 75 and 575 under the Northwest Corridor project. GDOT announced the schedule and new approach for the project Friday. Gov. Nathan Deal pulled the plug on the $950 million, 29.7-mile project late last year because he did not agree with giving the contractor control of the road and the tolls in return for paying upfront costs. The revised project will still involve two reversible toll lanes running from along I-75 from I-285 to I-575 and single reversible lanes running north from the I-75/575 split along I-75 to Hickory Grove Road and along I-575 to Sixes Road. No need to worry about road construction this weekend as you race around for Mother's Day or take the Through the Garden Gate tour. The contractor working on the Jamerson Road/Wigley Road project is taking the weekend off, Northeast Cobb County Commissioner JoAnn Birrell of District 3 advises in her weekly email newsletter. That doesn't mean the cones will be gone or the surface smooth, but at least you won't have any lane cloures or other delays to deal with. The Jamerson Road/Wigley Road construction project continues this week with periodic lane closures expected from Canton Road to Sandy Plains Road, Cobb County Commissioner JoAnn Birrell reported in her email update to her District 3 constituents. After paving at the Trickum Road intersection and the stretch from Elnora Court to Sandy Plains Road over the weekend, Northeast Cobb drivers can expect the following work from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, with at least one travel lane remaining open at all times:

Saturday Paving in Northeast Cobb

Expect delays along Jamerson and Wigley roads.

Be prepared for for delays when driving along Jamerson and Wigley roads Saturday. The contractor is doing paving today at Jamerson's intersection with Trickum Road and along Wigley from Elnora Court to Sandy Plains Road, Cobb County Commissioner JoAnn Birrell of District 3 (Northeast Cobb) reports. The paving will involve lane closures, but at least one lane will be kept open in each direction at all times.

Riverhill Court Closed for 30 Days

The following is a Cobb County Department of Transportation list of road construction projects happening April 30-May 4 in Northeast Cobb: Riverhill Court Road Closure Riverhill Court will be closed for 30 days beginning April 30 between Westchester Crossing and Rocky Glen for storm water repairs. The road is located in Westchester Subdivision off Mabry Road. It's a residential street with access from both directions. Jamerson Road and Wigley Road There could be utility activities, traffic control or erosion control maintenance.
