Menchie’s Is Flavor of Week

The Sandy Plains Centre store is Northeast Cobb Patch readers’ choice for frozen yogurt.

When it comes to frozen yogurt, Northeast Cobb Patch users have a clear preference: Menchie’s. Congratulations to the Sandy Plains Centre location of the national chain, this week’s winner of our Readers’ Choice survey of fro-yo favorites. More than 90 percent of those who voted named Menchie’s as the place they like to chill out with the chilled, mix-it-yourself concoction. We’re going to take a week off from Readers’ Choice to focus on high school graduations, election candidate qualifying and other pre-summer excitement. Readers Choose Tellus for Nearby Getaway

The Cartersville science museum is your pick for a family-friendly place to spend time on a staycation.

It appears that when you want to get away without really going away, you go to Cartersville. In this week’s regional Readers’ Choice survey of staycation destinations, three of the top four vote-getters are Cartersville sites: Tellus Science Museum, Pine Mountain Recreation Area and Booth Western Art Museum. And even though six of the 19 poll options are in Cartersville Patch, commenters complained about a couple of the Cartersville sites we left off the list. So it’s only fitting that this week’s Readers’ Choice for favorite staycation destination is in Cartersville: the Tellus museum. There's apparently only one choice when it comes to the place to go for brunch on Mother's Day. Aspens Signature Steaks is the unanimous winner of this week's Readers' Choice survey on your favorite place to take Mom on her special day, which this year is May 13. Aspens' win should come as no surprise. After all, the upscale steakhouse consistently appears among the top dining choices for an special occasion, from Valentine's Day to Easter to prom to Father's Day. Congratulations to Aspens. Your votes are in for your favorite outdoor dining places. Now you’ll know where to go for the best outdoor environment and cuisine. The Northeast Cobb Readers’ Choice winner is Paradise South of the Border. Signature dishes include Paella, Poblano chicken breast, Langostino queso, shrimp enchiladas, Cancun chicken and rice soup. Coming in a cool second was Mediterranean restaurant Basil Wraps where you can enjoy gyros, falafel, shawarma, hummus, and baba ghanouj. Monday, in preparation for Mother's Day, we'll ask about your favorite florist.
