Congratulations to the Sandy Plains Centre location of the national chain, this week’s winner of our Readers’ Choice survey of fro-yo favorites. More than 90 percent of those who voted named Menchie’s as the place they like to chill out with the chilled, mix-it-yourself concoction. It appears that when you want to get away without really going away, you go to Cartersville. In this week’s regional Readers’ Choice survey of staycation destinations, three of the top four vote-getters are Cartersville sites: Tellus Science Museum, Pine Mountain Recreation Area and Booth Western Art Museum. And even though six of the 19 poll options are in Cartersville Patch, commenters complained about a couple of the Cartersville sites we left off the list. So it’s only fitting that this week’s Readers’ Choice for favorite staycation destination is in Cartersville: the Tellus museum. There's apparently only one choice when it comes to the place to go for brunch on Mother's Day. Aspens Signature Steaks is the unanimous winner of this week's Readers' Choice survey on your favorite place to take Mom on her special day, which this year is May 13. Aspens' win should come as no surprise. After all, the upscale steakhouse consistently appears among the top dining choices for an special occasion, from Valentine's Day to Easter to prom to Father's Day. Congratulations to Aspens.
