20th Annual Bethlehem Walk Starts Saturday

The Mountain View United Methodist Church event takes place this weekend and next.

The Mountain View United Methodist Church of Northeast Cobb invites the public to experience the sights and sounds of Bethlehem Walk 2012. The event, which recreates the birth of Jesus, will be held from 7 – 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1 and Sunday, Dec. 2, as well as next Friday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec, 8.  The preschool morning performance is Friday, Dec. 7 from 9:30 a.m. - noon.  Mountain View UMC is located at 2300 Jamerson Road.  “For 20 years, Mountain View has recreated the shops, the townspeople, the census takers, the Roman soldiers, all going about their business while an unnoticed miracle takes place in a small corner of the city,” said Rev. Lassiter Student Named Eagle Scout

Taylor Alfaro will be presented with the special designation on June 10.

Taylor Alfaro of Boy Scout Troop 714 will be presented with the Boy Scouts’ highest rank, Eagle Scout, at a special Court of Honor ceremony on June 10 at Mountain View United Methodist Church in Northeast Cobb. Taylor, the son of Cathy Moland-Alfaro and Edgar Alfaro, began his Scouting career as a Cub Scout in 2001 with Pack 417 at Rocky Mount Elementary School. During that time, he earned several awards and Cub Scouts’ highest award, the Arrow of Light. He crossed over to Boy Scout Troop 714 in 2006. On his road to Eagle Scout, Taylor hiked and/or backpacked 168 miles, camped almost 100 nights and accumulated almost 80 hours of community service. He has served his troop as an Assistant Patrol Leader, Scribe, Historian, Den Leader and …
