Banned Books Week: What You Need to Know

Censorship is alive and well, as highlighted by Banned Books Week—and you might be surprised by who the most vocal challengers of books are.

The importance of the First Amendment and the concept of "intellectual freedom" might not always be readily apparent to most kids, but Banned Books Week is a great opportunity to make those lessons come alive for children—and adults. Libraries Help Jump-Start Healthy Lifestyles

Several Cobb libraries are offering free programs on healthy living tips.

The Cobb Library System is launching an informative healthy living campaign in 2012 called "Discover Your Health at the Library." Georgia also has a higher percentage of obese children than other states in the nation. "The health challenges facing Cobb are mainly preventable, and we'd like to highlight the resources available to help residents make healthy choices in 2012," Cobb library director Helen Poyer said.
