Kell Escapes Lassiter with Victory

Another tight matchup for these two bitter rivals

It's never easy when the Kell Longhorns make that 4.2-mile trip to Lassiter High School to face their biggest rivals. But it is usually exciting, and Wednesday's wrestling match did not disappoint. Kell left victorious, beating Lassiter 33-27.

Lassiter Earns Region Duals Championship

The Trojans held on for a see-saw win over Walton in the tournament finals.

With a region title within his grasp, Lassiter head coach Steve Day pulled out a motivational tool at the last moment that may have just pushed his team over the edge. As Chris Garcia headed out to the mat with the title on the line his coach stopped him to tell him one last thing. “Right before he stepped on the mat, I told him, ‘If you make it six minutes I’ll letter you,’” Day said. “His eyes got so big, and for two minutes he was like Superman.” The ploy worked as the Trojans held on to beat Walton 35-32 when Garcia managed to avoid getting pinned against the Raiders Dalton Hall in the 160-pound classification. Hall won the bout, but his inability to pin Garcia was the difference in the match. Walton trailed 35-29 and needed a pin to …

The Lassiter High JV and varsity wrestling teams head to Cherokee County to grapple with host Etowah High and Walton High.  The grappling will take place 5:00pm at Etowah High School, 6565 Putnam Ford Dr, Woodstock, GA 30189. 2.  The Cobb Marietta Retired Educators Association is holding a book club every Wednesday through Feb. 2. Varsity Wrestling: Fall Preview

Lassiter, Kell and Sprayberry wrestling teams strive for success on the mat.

Lassiter Wrestling Wrestling Coach Steve Day has the privilege of having Acton Pifer and Dillon Dupree both named to the All Cobb County 1st team.  Acton Pifer is the 2009 State Champion in the 125 weight class while Dillion Dupree placed 6th in State. The future of the program looks bright. Kell Wrestling As the Kell Longhorn's wrestling program continues to grow, and head coach Steve Lattizori looks to continue to improve from last seasons' 17-10 record.  Junior Michael Lattizori, Alec Stringer and Stevan Summay will continue their individual success on the mat.  Last year Lattizori and Summay were among the best at the Cobb County Tournament @ Sprayberry and were dominate in their weight class.  Seniors Matt McCroy and Justin Jones …
