The meeting is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday in the board room of the Cobb County School District central office, 514 Glover Street, Marietta. The board met last week to go over a revised "notebook" (see attached PDF) totalling $717 million in proposed projects that Cobb voters may be voting on early next year. At the end of that meeting, board member Alison Bartlett asked for another public meeting to continue finalizing the project list. Board members on Thursday discussed the revised list, which still comes in at an estimated $717 million in collections. Among the major changes are $3.1 million in renovations at Tapp Middle School in Powder Springs, a $3.3 million addition at Kincaid Elementary School in Northeast Cobb and new classroom space at Teasley Elementary School in Smyrna, costing another $3.1 million. Cobb EMC Linemen Teach Kindergartners Safety

Northeast Cobb kids learn the importance of avoiding downed power lines and calling 911 if they see them, as well as indoor electric safety.

Cobb EMC linemen Matt Brown and Jeremy McBrayer attended Kincaid Elementary’s Career Day to teach kindergartners about electricity and safety. Six classes, totaling 135 students, learned the importance of avoiding downed power lines and calling 911 if they see them, along with indoor electric safety. The outdoor event also helped students understand how linemen reach power lines, as class presentations were made in front of a Cobb EMC truck with the boom and bucket raised in the air. Brown and McBrayer answered students’ questions about electricity and helped them try on safety gear including hard hats, rubber gloves, arm protector sleeves and shoe covers. After the safety demonstration, students were given pencils that change colors when …

Students at Kincaid Elementary School are putting a creative spin on a very important message about bullying.

Jim Chabucos, a respected local arranger, composer, and musician, and Marchelle Studstill, Kincaid's technology teacher, collaborated with Bush on lyrics and arrangements. Fourth and fifth-grade students will perform The Grim Twins in March. It will be made available to other schools and theater groups to license. The Grim Twins highlights the importance of inclusion, acceptance, and family support. Kincaid Foundation Provides New Science Teacher

The less than two-year-old Kincaid Foundation created the science lab and the teaching position.

The Kincaid Foundation, established in 2010, used creative fundraising and community support to raise enough money in its first year to establish a science lab in the school. Bridget Nastasi was hired as Kincaid Elementary School's newest teacher. She will teach in the lab, part-time. "Mrs. Nastasi will provide hands-on, curriculum-based experiments for students in every grade. This will further enhance what the students are learning from their classroom teachers,” said Kincaid Principal Cheryl Mauldin. Nastasi began her position at Kincaid on Jan. 23. She will work with 3rd-5th grade classes twice per month and Kindergarten-2nd grade classes once a month. Nastasi has a Master of Arts in Teaching. Before moving to Georgia, she taught high …
