Goodwill of North Georgia will open the doors to its 45th store location on Thursday. The new West Marietta store located at 775 Whitlock Avenue includes a drive-up donation center. Including the new site, Goodwill operates half a dozen stores in Cobb County as well as a number of stand-alone donation centers in the area. “Not only are we growing our Cobb County footprint, but with this new location, we were able to bring nearly 40 new jobs to the community,” said Director of Public Relations Elaine Armstrong. From the City of Marietta: Marietta City and Cobb County officials and representatives from Wal-Mart Neighborhood Markets celebrated the opening of a 41,403-square foot grocery-only store at 1137 Powder Springs Road on Jan. 16. Approximately 90 employees have been hired to operate the store, one of the first Wal-Mart Neighborhood Markets in Georgia. The store is strategically located within one of Marietta’s opportunity zones, which encourage new businesses to locate in the city or existing businesses to expand. When two or more new jobs to the state of Georgia are created, businesses may be eligible to receive $3,500 in state income tax credits for each new job for five years. Just before the holiday season gets started, a number of church craft fairs will be going on this weekend in Northeast Cobb to get you in the mood. The Mount Zion United Methodist Church Craft Fair runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the church at 1770 Johnson Ferry Rd. This is the 26th annual event sponsored by the Mount Zion United Methodist Women. The work of more than 50 artists will be on display, along with prizes, a bake sale and more. Free admission. On Saturday, Faith Lutheran Church is holding the Faith Craft Shoppe.
