More than 300 churches have been invited to join hands Friday at Smyrna's Emory-Adventist Hospital.
Cobb County's faith community will join hands to form a "Circle of Prayer" Friday evening at Emory-Adventist Hospital in Smyrna. The event to rededicate the hospital will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, and members of more than 300 churches in Cobb County have been invited to participate. Last year, more than 250 worshippers held hands in a chain that wrapped around Emory-Adventist, Cobb County and Metro Atlanta’s only faith-based hospital. The hospital is located at 3949 South Cobb Drive.

Prayer without belief isn’t really prayer.
It’s kind of a silly question. If someone asked you, “Do you expect your prayers to be answered?” You might reply, “It would be really nice if they did.” Shouldn't we have the faith to say, "Of course I do!" If we take a step back and think about how we are praying and what we expect to happen as a result of our prayers, we might be surprised at what we uncover. Sometimes a prayer can seem to be a plea with our Father to do something for us or heal someone we love. Jesus made it clear in Matthew 7:7-8: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Having confidence in who God created us to be can help us through those "first day of school" moments, even as adults.
Even at 32 years old I remember my first day of elementary school. I’m surprised at how many details I am able to recall from the morning my mom walked me into Mrs. Lott’s 1st grade classroom. I remember the school feeling like a different world compared to anything I had experienced before. It was massive, filled with new faces, new atmosphere and a new feeling of independence (sort of, anyway). While thinking about the fact that so many kids and teens are gearing up to head back to school, I realized the impact my first day at Westside Elementary School must have had on me to be able to remember it so vividly.
