How to Make Rainbow Colored Deviled Eggs

This Easter use this easy recipe to turn your hard boiled eggs into a work of art.

Looking for something special to serve for an Easter lunch or dinner tomorrow? I have just the thing. This is yet another cool idea I found on Pinterest. I used my own deviled egg recipe and simply colored the eggs in Easter pastels. Here's what you need: One dozen hard-boiled eggs, peeled Food coloring Vinegar Water Directions: Slice the hard-boiled eggs in half lengthwise, remove the yolks. Place yolks in bowl to make filling. Wash the sliced eggs to remove any yolk residue. Place one tablespoon of vinegar and one half cup of water in a small cup. Add food coloring until desired color is created. Place egg in food coloring mixture and let soak until egg color reaches desired intensity. Remove egg from coloring mixture and place on a …

Mom About Town

What's in Your Plastic Egg?

Spring break and Easter in the same week. I spent last week racing around to get the goodies for the boys' Easter baskets because I knew I wouldn’t be seeing any alone time this week.

My mom always made Easter baskets like a mini Christmas, so of course I have to follow in her footsteps because I loved it as a kid. Also, I can’t forget those fantastic plastic eggs that are so much fun to cram candy in for the all important Easter Egg Hunt.  One thing we've incorporated from my husband’s family is putting money in the eggs.  Not much...just some pocket change and then a “Golden Egg” that has a $5 bill in it. But back to the plastic eggs...is it me or do those things multiply? They are like Christmas lights--you never think you have enough so you buy new ones and then find the mother load from last year.  Even if I take the candy and leave the eggs at egg hunts we attend I still have enough plastic eggs to stock the …

This brings back memories...my mother would sew my sister and I Easter dresses each year. She loved to sew. Each dress was beautifully decorated. I remember feeling so proud at church when people would oh and ah over her creations. ;-) It still fascinates me that she made our clothes. Sewing is a dying art! We had family egg hunts, but my dad moved the hunts inside because they hid the eggs so …   more ›

Get off the Cross

Lessons learned from a local church on Easter Sunday.

Easter morning I attended a church service at a church I had not been to before, Unity North Atlanta Church on Sandy Plains Road. At the front of the church was a large cross covered with flowers. Toward the end of the service, the pastor invited everyone to come take a flower off the cross to represent our commitment to getting off the cross. Christianity is not about hate or hurting others or holding on for dear life. It’s about trusting, forgiving, letting go and letting God. As I took a flower off the cross and sat down with my little flower, I felt weight lift off me. My heart was overflowing with trust, with forgiveness of myself and others and with inner peace and love. The pastor asked us to daily recommit ourselves to getting off …

The Victory Over Death

A mystery revealed in the Resurrection of Christ!

All ancient cultures sought to connect their lives with the natural events they experienced. Hence, ancient peoples like the Greeks saw springtime as a time of renewal and regeneration and sought to explain its existence by mythological stories. The story of Demeter and Persephone, for example, was the result of such an effort. The ancient Hebrews, however, connected springtime with their liberation from Egyptian slavery, a historical event. The feast of the Passover is a remembrance of God’s gift of freedom to the Hebrew people as He brings them out of 400 years of oppressive slavery. That event occurred during the spring at a specific time and was celebrated every year on the 15th day of the Jewish month Nissan. It just so happened that …
