Here are the latest updates on road work being done around Northeast Cobb, according to the Cobb Department of Transportation. Georgia DOT continues work on the intersection and ramps at I-575 and Barrett Parkway. This project is scheduled to complete in June 2013. The proposed project is a new bridge over I-75 that connects Frey Road to Busbee Drive just north of Chastain Road. A roundabout is proposed at the intersection of the Skip Spann Connector and Busbee Drive. Davidson Road to Willow Point Parkway Expect delays and lane closures from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with one lane open for your commute. Construction continues along Shiloh Road and Shallowford Road this week.
Here are the latest updates on road work being done in the Northeast Cobb area, according to the Cobb Department of Transportation. Georgia DOT continues work on the intersection and ramps at I-575 and Barrett Parkway. This project is scheduled to complete in June 2013. The Noonday Creek Trail Phase 2C project will add 2.5 miles of multi-use trail from Barrett Lakes Boulevard to Bells Ferry Road behind Town Center Mall. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2014.

Here are the latest updates on road work being done around Smyrna-Vinings and Cobb County, according to Cobb Commissioners Bob Ott, Helen Goreham, JoAnn Birrell, Lisa Cupid and the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). Wade Green Road to Canton Road The project includes replacing both headwalls, repairing the pipe, and stabilizing the shoulders. The contractor will continue installing erosion control and clearing from Monday through Friday. The project includes replacing the inlet headwall, repairing pipes, and stabilizing the shoulder. The following road work in North Cobb and Northeast Cobb in the coming week may affect your commute: The contractor will continue installing erosion control and clearing from Monday through Friday. The contractor may begin survey layout and utility locates from Monday through Friday. In May, Cobb County DOT is scheduled to begin work on replacing the westbound bridge on New Chastain Road over Noonday Creek. This will result in closing the westbound lanes for four months, or longer. Westbound traffic will be detoured to the eastbound bridge, which will provide one lane in each direction during construction.

Alternatives for the Northwest Transit Corridor include light rail and the expansion of bus services from Cobb County to Downtown Atlanta.
The Cobb County Board of Commissioners were briefed on the progress of a transit alternatives analysis presented by Connect Cobb, a project of the Cobb County Department of Transportation, during their Tuesday morning meeting in Marietta. The $1.8 million study, performed principally by Croy Engineering, looked at the best possible ways to establish a mass transit conduit from Acworth to Midtown. The presentation outlined several different mass-transit scenarios, including light rail, express service in HOV or managed lanes on Interstate 75, and a bus rapid transit (BRT) proposal.
