McCleskey's orchestra and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) students celebrated Valentine's Day with Heritage of Sandy Plains assisted living residents on Saturday, Feb. 11.
Continuing a tradition started four years ago, several members of the McCleskey Middle School orchestra recently performed at the Heritage of Sandy Plains assisted living facility. Orchestra teacher Dana Newton began the tradition her first year of teaching. She took a group of students to perform at a similar facility where her grandmother was living. The residents and the student-performers enjoyed the event so much that Newton decided to make it an annual event. This year’s performance was particularly poignant as her grandmother had passed away earlier that week.
