Bring Your 'Petcasso' to the Cobb Art Pet Festival

Cobb Animal Control will host its first Art, Barks and Purrs Festival Saturday.

Artsy dog and cat lovers take note: Cobb Animal Control will present the inaugural Art, Barks and Purrs Festival Saturday. Vendors at the festival will feature handcrafted animal-related art, including jewelry, bird feeders and houses, housewares, animal clothing, collars and leashes, pet portraits and pottery. The event will take place 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday on the front lawn of the Animal Control Shelter, located at 1060 Al Bishop Drive in Marietta. Campers Get Creative with Multimedia

This past week, The Art Place Mountain View hosted a "Multimedia Camp" for middle school children.

"Multimedia Camp" for middle school children was held weekdays this past week at The Art Place - Mountain View. Up to 24 students participated in each of the two daily sessions.  Instructor Betsy Khuri has a passion for both children and art, evident in her interaction with kids.  "Multimedia Camp was designed to encourage the creative side of students," said Khuri. Multimedia Camp focused on the art of papier-mache and shadow boxes. Students made papier-mache animals, dancing and other figurines, and shadow boxes. In addition to making art, students played different games intended to keep the creative juices flowing.  "We encourage our students to think out of the box and to be different. Happy, Healthy Kids: Painting for Dad

Art on canvas can make a memorable Father's Day gift.

If there is one thing my kids would love to do every day it’s painting. My Grammy is an artist. We all seem to have he genes and frequent desire to express ourselves on canvas. With Father’s Day coming up, kids and dads may enjoy a handmade painting. Michael’s Arts & Crafts is one of my kids favorite stores and place for painting supplies. For paintings we use: Since we paint fairly regularly, I find that the total cost for a painting comes in at approximately $1 - $3 each.   We put newspapers on the floor and use paper plates for the pallets. Our canvas is sitting on the little easels. We are ready to see what develops before our eyes. The trick is finding a picture for the kids to look at. It’s also great for kids to make up their own …
