Overcoming Stress and Anxiety in Children

Ways to help children deal with stress and anxiety.

Tuesday morning, Manda Turetsky, MS, MBA, EdS, LPC, shared with Addison parents ways to identify and deal with stress and anxiety in children. She began by discussing the differences between stress and anxiety, noting that stress comes from outside sources but anxiety is a fear about the future.  Every type of person will always experience stress from one source or another, but anxiety can be overcome. Turetsky gave some anxiety warning signs to look for in your children. A helpful idea given in the talk was to  keep a journal. You cab write down what was happening immediately before your child exhibited anxious behaviors, during the behaviors and noting what’s going on when your child is fine.
