A Montessori school is an environment that embodies the educational principles established by Dr. Maria Montessori as…More she consistently and scientifically observed how children develop and learn. She believed that a child who acquires the basic skills of reading and mathematics in this natural way has the advantage of beginning his or her education without pressure, boredom or discouragement. By pursuing individual interests in a Montessori classroom at an early age, a child can gain an early enthusiasm for learning, which is the key to becoming a truly educated person.
Each year of the Montessori three-year program prepares the children for success in academic education that will follow and, more importantly, provides experiences that help build character and community where there is kindness and caring for each individual.
Although there are marked individual differences, the following is a brief picture of a Montessori preschool: Infant Community, ages six weeks to 18 months; Toddler Community, ages 18 months to three years; Year One, ages three to four; Year Two, ages four to five; Year Three, ages five to six.
Meadows Montessori offers the following after-school programs: Monday - Spanish, Tuesday - Karate and Art, Wednesday - Sports and Thursday - Ballet.
