Celebrating Community in the East Cobb Area

Marching bands, scout troops, faith communities, youth sports teams, small businesses and community organizations will be trotting down a (newly repaved) Johnson Ferry Road Saturday morning.

It's the 18th annual EAST COBBER Parade and Festival, and it includes an expansive list of marchers and exhibitors. 

The idea for a community-wide event came from EAST COBBER publisher Cynthia Rozzo (AJC profile here), and it's grown to include hundreds of individuals, groups and organizations.

As we posted earlier on Thursday, Johnson Ferry will be closedbetween Roswell and Lower Roswell from 9:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. as the parade participants travel from Mt. Bethel Elementary School to the Fountains of Olde Towne.

Most every East Cobb-area high school marching band will be in attendance, and quite a few local middle schools and elementary schools will be represented. 

Elected officials, the Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services Department and the East Cobb Business Association are marching. 

So are MUST Ministries, Good Mews Animal Foundation and Friends for the East Cobb Park. 

For the entertainment set, there's the Twilight Twirlers of Marietta, the Mt. Bethel Unicycle Club and the Atlanta Ballet. 

The festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Fountains of Olde Towne. Food, live music and entertainment and games are featured, and this year marks the debut of the "Barking Beauty" contest.
